Do Two Braids, Not Too Much…

I’ve been sporting this two braid style (I don’t have a name for them quite yet), for about a year now on and off. I’ve been giving a lot of attention to this style lately though.

In this video, I’m doing a refresh but you’ll get an idea of how I do my style:

I’m on a quest to grow my hair long as possible and I’ve been using this as a protective style. It’s low manipulation and it keeps my hair off my shoulders (so it won’t be at risk for breakage by rubbing against my clothing).

I’ve been busy and I like to use this style as a go-to. It’s simple, classy, and neat. It’s simple to do and fast to do. Try it out if you dare!

What You’ll Need:

  • Water
  • Sealing oil of choice
  • Conditioner (optional)
  • Bobby pins

This style is done best on moisturized and dentangled hair.

Step 1: Part hair (check out the video above for example of how my hair was parted) by starting at the very beginning of your hairline, go to the middle and make a straight part a quarter of the way back (towards the back of your head).

A quarter of the way from the part you just created, make a straight part halfway through that section. You should now have a little box shape on either the right or left of your section.

Make a straight part starting from the middle of the box you just created that goes all the way to the back of your head toward your neck.

You should now have two complete sections, one should be larger than the other.

Step 2: Braid each section. Ensure to braid close to the edge of your hair making a crown type situation on your head.

Guess What?!

I got this style idea by attempting to do a goddess braid. I never attempted to do an actual goddess braid since then because I’ve been loving the two braids!

Benefits Of This Style:

  • Fast (about 10 minutes)
  • Simple
  • Protective
  • Versatile
